Chic in New York: Cire Trudon

If any more French retailers open shops in New York, pretty soon we'll have no reason to go to Paris.  I jest of course.  We'll never need a reason to visit Paris but our suitcases might be lighter on the flight back.  The legendary candle maker to kings and queens, Cire Trudon, is opening a shop on Bond Street. Their first store in the United States isn't quite open yet but I saw them unpacking boxes yesterday so it won't be long.

Cire Trudon was founded in 1643 in Paris when a grocer named Trudon started selling candles he produced and developed.   His clients included churches and cathedrals and later royalty including Marie Antoinette and Napoleon.  One of my favorite candles is their Trianon scent.  Maison Trudon later made candles for Hermes, Guerlain and Dior.  In 2007, Ramdane Touhami took over the company and has carried on the tradition of "producing candles of the best quality according to time honored traditions."

I suppose you could still buy the candles in Paris but it's nice to know that when you run out, you can pop downtown for more.  Happy Shopping!

Les Toiles du Soleil

It's been hotter than Hades in New York lately which makes me want to go to Les Toiles du Soleil and buy everything in their cool summer colored French fabrics. The company has been in business in France for over 150 years but only available here for two. Their shop in Chelsea is almost as good as a trip to France too! I especially love the espadrilles and deck chairs. Definitely check them out!

Mecox Grdens: Part Deux

I always joke that you could decorate a house in the Hamptons just with one trip to Mecox Gardens including the outside as you saw with my previous post. They have a great mix of new and vintage pieces. The store in Southampton is huge and my personal favorite but they have a bunch of other locations in New York and across the country as well as a great website. Now all I need is a house of my own in The Hamptons! Happy Shopping!

Tory Burch's Chic Seoul Boutique

Tory Burch just posted photos of her new freestanding boutique in Seoul, South Korea. I love how it looks more like a home than a store. When I first saw the photo above, I actually thought it was Tory's home! I am definitely going to have to find out if where to find that fabric or wallpaper on the walls. I love it!
